Chain snatching: 2nd suspect held

Santhosh (20) of Pallavaram was secured along with Dinesh (20) during a regular vehicle on Wednesday night. As they gave contradictory answers, police took them to the station for interrogation, during which Santosh reportedly admitted to his involvement in Kundrathur and Chitlapakkam chain-snatching incidents, while Dinesh admitted to his involvement in the Chitlapakkam case. 

It may be recalled that Siva (18) was secured in Puducherry by St Thomas Mount police in connection with both the incidents. Police said the trio stole a bike in Chromepet and indulged in chain-snatching in Chitlapakkam first. Thereafter, Siva and Santosh went to Kundrathur and robbed Jayashree (54), a resident of Irandam Kattalai, of five sovereigns when she was walking with her husband. At Chitlapakkam, Geetha (62) was relieved of her four sovereigns by the same gang. The police have so far recovered 10 sovereigns from the trio.
