However, not to be cowed down, the son has filed a police complaint against his mother and a case has been booked.

The incident took place on February 11 when Rajendran (40), an employee of the Ordnance Clothing Factory (OCF), Avadi, was shocked to see the front portion of his Hyundai i20 ablaze when he stepped out around 3 am.

Rajendran immediately alerted the Avadi fire station, and fire tenders put out the blaze within 30 minutes.

Later, he lodged a complaint at the Avadi police station in connection with the incident.

During investigation, police verified CCTV footage from a nearby house and found Rajendran’s mother Indirani moving around the car suspiciously around 2.30 am.

On Rajendran’s insistence, police booked Indirani under the Tamil Nadu Property Prevention of Damage and Loss Act. However, Indirani is yet to be arrested.

Police sources said that Rajendran and his elder brother had differences and the former recently moved to a house nearby with his family.

Indirani, who was on her elder son’s side, held a grudge against Rajendran and burnt the car to take revenge on him.
