31 sovereigns, Rs 4 L looted from four houses
A group of unidentified men struck four houses in south Chennai and Guduvancherry and decamped with 31 sovereigns of jewels and Rs 4 lakh in cash on Monday.

In the first incident, burglars barged into three houses in a same flat in Mambakkam near Kelambakkam on Monday morning and decamped with 26 sovereigns of jewels. Police said that many apartments in the flat were occupied by IT professionals. The intruders noticed the office timings of the inmates and burgled the three houses.Â
In another incident, when Dinesh Kumar (35) of Venkateshwara Nagar in Guduvancherry returned home after attending a function with his family, he found the grill gate of his house broken open. Five sovereigns of gold and Rs 4 lakh cash were found missing from the locker. Dinesh has filed a complaint at the Guduvancherry police station. Further investigation is on.
