Candlelight vigil for improving security of differently-abled
The team that was involved in the search of Pravin Kumar, the 26-year-old man, are organising a candle light vigil at Valluvarkottam on Monday.

With an aim of drawing the attention of stakeholders working with persons with disabilities and other vulnerable population, at the same, Vidya Sagar, a rights-based organisation working with persons with disabilities in the areas of education, rehabilitation, training, inclusion and advocacy.
While there are steps in place to ensure safety of women and children as well as systems to trace missing persons, the recent incident of a young man with a learning disability having gone missing, has raised the question on the effectiveness of the systems in place.Â
An alumnus of Vidya Sagar, Pravin was an employee of Hotel Savera. He had reportedly gone missing on January 13 and was killed on the following day in a road accident as he was hit by a mini water tanker. Stressing on the need to avoid losing opportunities to save lives, a release from the organisation stated that the better use of technology, speedy communication and prompt action by the police can surely make a big difference.Â
The vigil, to be organised on Monday, is not only as a mark of respect to Pravin, but also a step to take forward a movement towards the creation of a more efficient system and secure network for vulnerable population, it stated.
