TNPSC scam: CCB raids coaching centre

The raid assumes significance as the case is scheduled to be heard in the Madras High Court on Friday (January 19). A team of 10 CCB officers started the raid on the Apollo Study Centre at West CIT Nagar around 10 am.

The centre was declared closed for the day and the staff, who were already inside, were not allowed to leave the premises. The CCB team took control of the two buildings belonging to the centre and the raid continued till late evening.

The candidates, who visited the centre, as per their batch timing were sent back by the security guards. There was no information whether the sleuths managed to obtain any evidence during the raid. It may be recalled that the High Court had in December asked the CCB to complete its investigation and file a final report as expeditiously as possible before the case January 19 hearing.

The CCB had already arrested Section Officer Sivasankar of TNPSC and a candidate Ramkumar in connection with the case. In its status report submitted before the court, the investigation wing had stated that Ramkumar bribed Sivasankar to get an empty OMR sheet, wrote correct answers and replaced the original sheet that was given at the examination hall.

Madurai-based transgender S Swapna filed a case at High Court, after media reports on the alleged malpractice in the examination.
