FIR against four for abusive post against Madras High Court Chief Justice Indira Banerjee on Facebook

A malicious comment posted on Facebook in the name of ‘Thani Oruvan’ was in response to her observation on the strike by transport workers. 

Her oral observation, “It is better for unsatisfied workers to leave their jobs rather than take the public to ransom,” was targeted for an abusive comment.

Additional Solicitor-General of India G Rajagopalan, who chanced upon the negative comment, brought it to the notice of the High Court Registry and also filed a complaint at the B4, Police Station within the Madras High Court campus. Following this, police have registered an FIR against four people.

Rajagopalan told DTNext that the comment was not only highly derogatory but also against womanhood. It may be noted that another HC Judge, Justice Kirubakaran, who was trolled for his observations on the appropriateness of government schoolteachers resorting to strike had led to the arrest of at least 10 members part of JACTO-GEO.
