Police on verifying the CCTV footage at the ATM found out that it was the agency staff Kumar, who opened the ATM with the secret PIN number and escaped with the cash.
Chennai
In a shocking incident, Rs 19 lakh has been burgled from an HDFC ATM at Kolathur by the staff member of a private agency entrusted with replenishing cash at the teller machines. What is more shocking is that the private agency at Chetpet has no clear information about their employee, Kumar, who is suspected to have escaped with the sum.
While the ATM was refilled with Rs 9.5 lakh on December 18, customers complained the next day that the ATM had run out cash.
On suspicion, the bank manager Srinivasan filed a complaint at Rajamangalam police and alerted the private agency which was entrusted with the job.
Police on verifying the CCTV footage at the ATM found out that it was the agency staff Kumar, who opened the ATM with the secret PIN number and escaped with the cash.
Rajamangalam police, who have been searching for Kumar, has reportedly not got any help from the agency since it did not have even basic information of the suspected staff member.
