He said they voted for him to bring about a change of state government.

“The third chapter of the Dravidian movement has begun under General Secretary VK Sasikala from the RK Nagar constituency. The first chapter of the Dravidian movement had begun from Royapuram when Anna launched DMK,” he declared. He promised to fulfil the people’s wish of bringing down the government and predicted that the state government under Edappadi K Palaniswami would fall in two months.

“Once a floor test is ordered, all the sleeper cells will vote against the government”, he said. Citing the case for

‘Two Leaves’ at the Delhi High Court, Dinakaran said he would retrieve the symbol, but would decide later whether to use it or the victorious ‘Pressure cooker’ symbol. Commenting on the rejection of the AIADMK candidate in spite of having contested on ‘Two Leaves’, Dinakaran the first independent to win a bypoll in the state’s political history said people vote for candidates and not for symbols.

He spoke to the media after garlanding the statue of Dravidian movement’s founder EVR Periyar and paying respects at the memorial of former chief ministers Anna, MGR and Jayalalithaa.

TTV Dinakaran charged the police officials with openly siding with the ruling party and warned that such officials would be punished and taken to court. He denied that the video clips showing former chief minister J Jayalalithaa at Apollo Hospitals had impacted the voters.
Reacting to a question on state BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan’s comments dubbing him as a sidelined leader and independent candidate, he said the question should be put to her. To a query on BJP candidate Karu Nagarajan receiving less votes than NOTA, he said, “You should ask the BJP leaders if people were paid to support NOTA. He also said most of the media houses are afraid of the BJP and not publishing or telecasting anything against it.” Dinakaran, who reversed the two-decade-old trend of ruling parties winning the bypoll, described the victory as a gift by the people on the death anniversary of party founder MGR.
