Country bombs seized in Kanchi, six held

Kancheepuram police have arrested six persons, including four women for possessing country bombs and raw materials. A search is on for two others, including Thyagu, an aide of the late don Sridhar.

While the police identified two of the arrested as ‘Market’ Vicky and ‘Tollgate’ Vicky, part of Thyagu’s gang, it refused to name the four women, Thyagu’s mother and three sisters. Police raided Thyagu’s house in Poyyakulam based on information provided by Dhanikachalam and Dinesh, who were earlier arrested over a gang fight.

Two diamond earrings, four sovereigns of jewels and four kilograms of silver articles were burgled from an advocate’s house in Chromepet on Friday.

Advocate Kothandaraman, who had gone out with his family in the morning, was shocked to see the house at Nagappa Nagar broken open when he returned. In another similar incident, two houses in an apartment at Gnanamoorthy Nagar in Pattaravakkam were broken open on Friday and ten sovereigns of jewels were burgled. Police have registered cases and are investigating.

A 20-year-old college student was threatened at knifepoint and relieved of his 4.5 sovereign chain by a bikeborne duo at Pammal on Friday. Jai Ganesh, who is studying in Hyderabad, returned home, located at Krishna Nagar in Pammal near Pallavaram, on vacation and the incident took place when he was on way to a nearby market on his bike. In his complaint, Jai Ganesh said that he was stopped by two men on bike on the pretext of asking directions for an address.

Police said that the duo will be nabbed soon.
