Man who claimed to have raped 50 women awarded 3 years jail term

The suspect M Arivazhagan of Krishnagiri, was booked in a sexual assault case by the police and during  interrogation, he claimed to have raped 50 women in the city, before robbing their houses at knifepoint. The suspect is an unemployed engineering graduate, involved in several crimes.

Police on Friday said that there were ten theft cases in Velachery, four theft cases in Kumaran Nagar, two cases in Guindy and one sexual assault case in Saidapet all women police station against him. In a press release, police had described him as an extortionist, who was caught in Velachery on November 16, after he robbed a man at the Vijaya Nagar bus stop. After he was arrested, Velachery police learnt about the other cases pending against the suspect in other stations. Chennai city Police Commissioner appreciated the efforts undertaken by the Velachery police in getting him punished in just over a month, added the release
