Special team to nab impostor poll officials
Mambalam police on Monday formed a special team to nab the unidentified men, suspected to be members of Iranian gang, who posed as poll officials to check motorists and escaped with jewels worth Rs 2 lakh from a motorist in T Nagar on Sunday.

Following complaints that a few non-Tamil speaking men are snatching money and jewels in the guise of checking the vehicles, Mambalam police registered a case on Sunday.
Speaking to DT Next, a police official said that the men can’t be Iranians as they have incorporated all their data in the face-detection technology installed in T Nagar.
“If they belonged to Iranian gang, we would have received an alert as soon as they entered the jurisdiction.
The special team will nab the accused soon,” the officer said.
