Namesakes may play the ‘confusion game’ in bypoll

The man S Madhusudhanan is actually from Triplicane and he is said to be a DMK sympathiser. The name and symbol are expected to cause slight confusion among the voters, whose memory is strong and it is to be seen how many votes he chips away from the ruling AIADMK. For his part, Dinakaran’s camp has put up R Madhusudhanan in the ‘iron box’ symbol.
M Ramesh, who has entered the race with ‘hat’ symbol, is also seen canvassing votes in the area.
When asked if people are asking cash from him, the MBA graduate shot back, “People expecting money is certainly a handicap. But, can I win if I gave cash for votes? Leading a registered party named Namadhu
Kongu Munnetra Kazhagam, he is not worried about losing his deposit amount, but added that a sizeable number of people from his community live in the area.
However, he is not the lonely Ramesh in the contest as there are two more candidates with the same name, Ramesh Babu and one named Ramesh Ram.
There are three Dinakaran’s in the fray contesting on the symbols box, auto rickshaw and drilling machine. G Dinakaran, seeking votes on ‘autorickshaw,’ hails from Manali and belongs to a family with DMK leanings. K Dinakaran, contesting on ‘box’ symbol is a DMK functionary in Vyasarpadi, while M Dinakaran, who had received drilling machine is said to be a member of DMK’s advocate’s wing.
Most of the independents had opted for modern symbols like gas cylinder, bottle, balloon, helmet, cricket bat, cricket ball, cake, chess board, pencil box, television, phone charger, camera, cup and saucers, telephone and gas stove.
One of the candidates had preferred the ‘chappal’ symbol and says it is an example for hard work, necessity and sacrifice.
