Dashwanth wanted to kill his father too
Rape and murder accused Dashwanth, who was brought to Chennai from Mumbai on Saturday night, has reportedly confessed to police to have murdered his mother Sarala since she refused to give him money for betting on horses.

In his statement to police, Dashwanth also revealed that he wanted to murder his father Sekar also due to constant 'insult' he received at home on his waywardness.
The 23-year-old was on Sunday produced before Uthiramerur magistrate Sachidhanandan at his Chengalpattu residence after night-long investigation by police at Kundrathur police station. He was remanded in judicial custody before being lodged in Puzhal Central Prison until December 22.
When Dashwanth was brought out of Kundrathur police station, his late mother Sarala's cousin attempted to slap him. While police prevented it, there was no reaction from Dashwanth.
During the investigation, Dashwanth reportedly told the police that his parents refused to give him Rs 2,000 every day to bet on horses. Since they asked him to find a job for himself, apart from verbally abusing him for damaging their family's reputation, he was said to be angry with his parents. On December 2, he hit his mother Sarala with an iron rod after she refused to give him money. Police said that he was also waiting to kill his father Sekar, but he fled the scene with his mother's jewels since Sekar did not turn up.
When Dashwanth escaped from police custody in Mumbai, he is said to have gone to a room which he had taken on rent for Rs 500 a day in the same locality, where he had kept the money.
Meanwhile, a hunt is on for Manikandan, who had allegedly cheated Dashwanth after receiving jewels from him on the promise of giving him cash. Dashwanth escaped to Mumbai with Rs 40,000 which he had received from David, an accused whom he had met in prison.
Moreover, the seven-year-old girl’s rape and murder case trial, which was scheduled to take place in Chengalpet court on December 5, never happened as the accused Dashwanth was absconding after killing his mother in Kundrathur last week.
According to the NGO supporting the the victim's family in the trial, the case was scheduled for December 5, 6, 11 and 12. “He absconded on December 2 after he allegedly killed his mother affecting the court schedule. With the Chennai police arresting the suspect in Mumbai a couple of days ago, we expect the police to speed up the procedure in the coming week,” said a representative of the NGO.
Police sources said that efforts are on to speed up the case and Dashwanth will be produced in the trial court this week and also hope the trial to get over this month.
