Woman among 2 held for smuggling ganja

Though the identities of the accused were not revealed, police said that they got specific inputs that ganja is being smuggled into the state and they intercepted the bus at Arumbakkam near Gummudipoondi. 

The bus was inspected and a woman was found to be in possession of ganja. Police suspect that they may have links with ganja peddling gangs in Chennai and more arrests could be expected in the coming days. 

Similarly, Chinna Kancheepuram police intercepted a truck smuggling banned tobacco products worth Rs 8 lakh on a tip-off and arrested two men - Asaram (27) and Jagadeesh (27) of Kancheepuram. Banned tobacco weighing 1.75 tonne was seized from them and handed over to food safety official.
