The man was identified as Suba Debnath, native of Kolkata. It all started around 2 pm when he tried to enter Gate No 3, designated for passengers boarding Air India flight to Coimbatore, while he was supposed to enter Gate No 5. After airlines staff stopped him, he developed an argument with them. CISF personnel posted there rushed and tried to evict him from the spot.
However, he suddenly started biting the personnel, staff and the fellow passengers. His wife tried to stop him, but in vain. Later, more personnel brought him under their control and handed him over to Airport police station. However, his wife told police that Suba was mentally-disturbed and they were returning to Kolkata after 15-day treatment at Christian Medical College, Vellore. Since she broke down at the police station, CISF personnel requested the police not to book any case against Suba Debnath.
Suba Debnath became normal after he was administered the prescribed medicine. But SpiceJet refused to take on board the couple as per the guidelines of the airlines. Later, police arranged railway tickets for the couple and advised them to take seniors from family during travel to prevent any untoward incident.
