PG Service doctors’ protest enters day 12
The protest by Post Graduate Service doctors at the Directorate of Medical Education – demanding that their counselling be held first for filling up the post of assistant professors at Government Medical Colleges – has entered day 12 on Monday.
Chennai
Demanding that the Medical Recruitment Board (MRB) walk in interview held for private service candidates (which was conducted two weeks ago) be cancelled and be held only after the counselling for PG Service candidates to fill up the vacant posts in medical colleges is completed, the doctors said, “Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan had met us once during the course of our protest and gave us a written assurance. However, our demands were not mentioned in the same.”
A PG service candidate said, “We asked for the vacancies that have been filled in the MRB walk-in interview to be shown as vacancies, when the Service PGs go for counselling.
We are also demanding that the counselling process be carried on as per GO 131, which clearly outlines the rules that must be followed during counselling for the post of assistant professors.
It has been totally violated.” The Service candidates are determined to continue their protests until their demands are met.
