    Case registered against abusers of Northeast ISL fans after video

    A day after a video of northeast fans, present at the Indian Super League match at the city being abused by a group of men went viral on social media, Periamet police took suo motu cognisance of the incident and registered a case against the abusers.

    A photo of one of the abusers was released on Saturday. Those who has any information about the abusers may reach Periamet police inspector 94981 42616, Vepery range assistant commissioner 94981 26870 and Kilpauk Deputy Commissioner 94981 22722. 

    The incident took place on Thursday evening at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium during the football match between Chennaiyin FC and NorthEast United as part of the ongoing Indian Super League. The video showed a group of youth who appeared to be drunk mocking the northeast fans who had come to witness the match. 

    After the incident became a raging controversy on social media, Chennaiyin FC responded that the club has a very strict policy against racism.
