The children, who were abducted from the home, owing to certain technicalities by the Child Welfare Committee, Chengalpattu, on seeing the sisters of the home rushed to hug them and cried. The emotional scenes that transpired moved everyone present in the court and the division bench led by Justice Rajiv Shakdher, was no exception, with them resorting to consoling the children.
Originally, while passing orders on a writ petition from Franciscan Sisters of St Joseph, Justice M Duraiswsamy had directed the CWC chairman to restore the children. But the CWC, Chairman, Manikandan, despite being summoned for not obeying the direction to restore the children had moved an appeal challenging this order. However, on a direction from the bench of Justices Rajiv Shakedhar and N Satishkumar, which heard the appeal, the CWC brought the children to the High Court.
The sisters, their senior counsel Xavier Arul Raj and the CWC chairman also appeared before the judges. After individually examining them, the judges directed the CWC chairman to restore the children back to the Home forthwith and dismissed his appeal.
