Nearly a week has passed since a 43-year-old woman was found beheaded in Thiruvalangadu in Tiruvallur district, but the case remains unsolved.
Chennai
Amid reports that a provision store owner has been apprehended in connection with the case, Thiruvalangadu inspector Sardar told DT Next that they are investigating all the possible angles, though no arrest has been made yet. A day after the torso of the woman, later identified as Lakshmi of Pattaravakkam, was found dumped in the lake bund, police traced the head a few metres away on November 15.Â
The post-mortem report revealed that there was no sign of struggle from Lakshmi and police suspect that the murderer must have slit her throat reportedly with a sharp weapon.Â
The body was found within 24 hours of the murder. Lakshmi, who separated from her husband Ramachandran 12 years ago, used to live with her three sons. Her elder son Jeyachandran identified the body after cops released the photos.Â
