Man held for making pirated DVDs
The Video Piracy Cell of the Chennai city police on Sunday arrested a notorious person involved in making and selling pirated DVDs of new films in several parts of the city and seized more than 2,500 DVDs from him.

Police sources said on the orders of the Commissioner of Police asking the cops to act tough against video pirates operating in Moolakkadai, Madhavaram, Vyasarpadi, Burma Bazaar, Ratan Bazaar, China Bazaar, Netaji Bazaar, T Nagar, Adyar and Mylapore who are indulging in the making and sale of pirated DVDs of Tamil films which hit the screens recently.Â
The Video Piracy Cell arrested a notorious person, who was found indulging in making of pirated DVDs and supplying and selling to various bazaars. He was identified as D Kannan (50), a resident of Puzhal.Â
Police seized 2,600 DVDs from his possession, including newly released Tamil movies. Two DVD writing machines totally valued at Rs 11.35 lakh were also seized from him and they were produced before the court for further legal action.
