Police officers who were on a regular vehicle check near Choolai Rountana intercepted the auto and checked Nirandhan’s belongings.
They found 2 kg of ganja hidden in a huge sack, underneath vegetables and dry fish. During enquiry, the accused reportedly told police that he was a construction labourer and brought ganja from his hometown in Odisha. “Though he is from Odisha, he lives with his family in Retteri. He had plans to take it to Bengaluru in the next few days to distribute the contraband to his friends and others,” said police.

In the first incident, Ennore police have also arrested two women Selvazhagi and Suji, both from Ernavur, and seized 2.3 kg of ganja from them. In the next incident, Fort police have seized 1.1 kg of ganja from Muthulakshmi of Annai Sathya Nagar. All the accused have been remanded in judicial custody.
