Schools reopen; but rain pains kids
Schools in the city reopened after a week-long break, but there was no relief for the students as rainfall again commenced on Tuesday. Most got drenched on their way back home. “We got wet while waiting at the bus stand and buses were late because of the downpour,” said M Poornima, a student in Nungambakkam.

Students complained of stagnant water around the campus. “There was knee-deep water in our campus and we had to struggle our way out,” said Sumit J, a student of a school in Vepery.
The schools, too, are worried about completing the syllabus. “We will have to cut short the December holidays if the schools have to be shut longer,” said PK Ilamaran, president, Tamil Nadu Teachers Association. The School Education Department announced that the pre-half-yearly exams have been cancelled due to the rain.
