Technical glitch deters IISc Chennai aspirants
Over 1,000 students were inconvenienced when they went to have their entrance exam for the Indian Institute of Sciences at the Sellers service centre in Nungambakkam.

“Students from Classes XI and XII who got qualified were asked to write the All India entrance exam at 9 am and 1 pm, respectively. When we reached there before 1 pm, we were told that the first exam was delayed due to an internal server issue and that the students from the second batch would have to wait for an hour,” said a parent, adding, “We parents waited outside and reached the breaking point at 4:30, after which we entered the exam hall to question the examiners.”
Arathi S (name changed), a student, said, that the exam written by the first batch was also disqualified. Priya (name changed) another student said, “I reached the hall at 1 pm. We were told that there was some technical issue. We had to wait in a room with no ventilation. The examiners were very nonchalant about the situation.”
“We were taken to the computer lab and there also the server issues cropped up. While some were able to log in and start their exam, many of us could not even log in. The parents entered the so-called exam halls and argued with the examiners who merely tried to manage the situation instead of finding a solution. Parents took videos and began tweeting as well,” she added.
The students were later sent an email by officials apologising for the situation. “We are aware that some of the students were unable to complete the KVPY exam due to technical problems in the centres. We are collecting information from our exam service provider. The KVPY committee will meet to discuss the issues and take appropriate action. We are sorry for the inconvenience,” the email read.
