Vellore college warns against animal cruelty
After the recent case of animal cruelty by a mechanical engineering student from a reputed institution in Vellore, who killed a puppy by throwing it from the room, surfaced on social media, the management of the college had sent out a circular warning the students of repercussions.

The circular stated, “Disturbing stray dogs, intimidating as well as indulging in animal cruelty by kicking and pelting stones at the dogs are a punishable offence under section 428 and 429 of the IPC... This clarifies that anyone indulging in act of cruelty to animals, he/she will be making himself/herself liable for action under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act & liable for action under CCS (Conduct) Rules of conduct of unbecoming of a human being.”
According to activists who filed the case, Vishesh Iyengar was arrested by the police on Thursday. He was produced in court where he was granted bail. The institute has also taken precautionary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
