Cheated of Rs 10 lakhs using actor’s name: Financier

The petitioner, R Selvapandian, has referred to a couple, Mumbai Gurubai alias Gurusamy and Semmalar of Madurai, and a film director M R Balamithran of Chennai in his petition, who allegedly told him that they want to make a film titled Kalvargal featuring the couple’s son in which actor Vijay would play a key role. 

The couple received Rs 10 lakh from him in multiple instalments in 2016, after which he even attended film launch in Chennai. 

Selvapandian has said that he later came to know that Gurubai has alleged connections with Mumbai underworld and demanded his Rs 10 lakh from the couple, they allegedly threatened him at Balamithran’s house. Since the local police did not accept his complaint, he lodged a complaint at CM special cell. 

SS Colony police in Madurai registered a case and after the inquiry, they asked him to file a complaint in Chennai after which he filed a complaint at Virugambakkam police station.
