Youth falls into Cooum in selfie bid

A youth from RK Nagar who fell into Adyar river from Thiru Vi Ka bridge while trying to take selfie on Friday night, was rescued by Abhiramapuram police. The incident took place around 11.30 pm when the victim, A Srinivasan (22), along with five other friends, was returning from Besant Nagar.

While they were trying to take selfie, Srinivasan’s leg got stuck in the railing and in an attempt to relieve himself, Srinivasan fell into river. Since water was not too deep, he escaped with minor scratches on his body.

However, since he doesn’t know how to swim, he was stranded in the river until police personnel from Abiramapuram station reached the spot and rescued him, sources said.
