Kamal sees bid to encroach 1,000 acres near Kosasthalaiyar

Making a series of tweets, the actor warned the government and the people that it would become dangerous to Chennai if the Ennore delta was ignored. 

He said, “Kosasthalaiyar is longer than the Adyar and Cooum. Unfortunately the creek of it has been encroached upon to an extent of 1,090 acres", Kamal said. He said the Vallur Thermal Plant and North Chennai Power Plant were dumping their waste into the river and environmentalists have voiced against this consistently. "But all have so far fallen on deaf ears."

Adding to this Bharath Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum have set up facilities at the river’s exit to the sea’’, he added. He alleged that on the pretext of expanding the Kamarajar Port, efforts were on to encroach upon 1,000 acres of land near the creek. 

In another tweet, Kamal said, the travails of those living in Kattukuppam, Mugathuvarakuppam and Sivanpadai Veedhi should be highlighted and made sure that their problems were addressed at the earliest.
