Chennai trio held in pooja fraud case in Puducherry
Police have settled a cheating case with the arrest of three persons, all from Chennai, and recovered Rs 5.50 lakh from their possession.

Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan in a release here on Tuesday said that Villinaur police station registered a cheating case on October 22 on a complaint from one Anandan. In his complaint, Anandan said that since his business was down, his wife invited three persons who were roaming around under the pretext of ‘astrologers’ to their house.
The trio who came to the house said that some “healing pooja” required to be performed and collected 36 sovereigns of jewels from her on promise that it would be returned after the pooja.
After they decamped with the ornaments, the family realized that they were cheated.
Police studied the case and singled out three suspects hailing from Chennai and laid a trap for them. On October 23, police succeeded in nabbing the trio – Visalatchi, Arumugham, and Angala Parameswari, hailing from Tambram in Chennai. On interrogation, they confessed to committing the crime and police have recovered Rs.5.5 lakh from their possession.
