The pilot noticed the defect in the nick of time and alerted the Air Traffic Control office and eventually the flight was taxied back to hangar, said airport sources. As the engineers could not fix the defect even after two hours, the passengers on board got agitated. Later, they were off-loaded and made to wait at the airport till 4 pm.

As the snag could not be tackled, the flight was eventually cancelled and arrangements were made for passengers to stay in different hotels in the city.

Air India sources said even if the flight got ready on Sunday, it could not be operated since it was already time for pilots to take rest. Hence, it has been rescheduled for takeoff on Monday, added the source.
