After argument with MLA, farmer dies
A 70-year old farmer died of suspected heart attack on Friday after a face to face interaction with an AIADMK MLA on the Amma scheme camp at Sriperumbadur. MLA K Palani said that the farmer was narrating the difficulties in availing of farm loans when he suddenly swooned.

Police identified the deceased as Sadagopan, a farmer who has seven acres of land near Mettupalayam in Sriperumbadur. He was telling the minister the problems that he had faced. Police said that he spoke to the MLA on issues relating to non-availability of fertilisers and seeds as also lake encroachment, besides difficulties in getting co-operative loans.
Sources said that while Sadagopan was trying to bring out the problems faced by farmers in his area, Palani was trying to highlight all the good works undertaken by the government for the people.
Sources also added that the MLA was somewhat unhappy because the farmer was only focusing on the problems and had not uttered a word of praise on the State’s programmes and schemes in the betterment of the farmers. “He said he was facing difficulties in getting loans and I promised to look into his problems. But, he suddenly collapsed at the venue. I arranged a vehicle to take him to the hospital.
After examining him, the doctors said that he already had two bouts of attacks earlier,” MLA Palani told DT Next. When asked if he had any heated argument with the farmer, the MLA replied in the negative and said, “I was telling him that I would help him with the loans.”
Sadagopan was first taken to a nearby PHC where the medical team suggested that he be shifted to Sriperumbadur GH. At the GH, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
