Lucky man gets cash bag left in train with Rs 4 lakh intact
An elderly couple, who left behind a bag containing Rs 4 lakh in cash in Pandian Express at Egmore on Sunday, was lucky enough to get back their money even after the train left for Thanjavur running as Chozhan Express.
Chennai
The couple- Sellappa (69) and Shyamala (59) - were returning from Madurai after selling the lands in their hometown when the incident happened. While they deposited most of the cash in a bank in Madurai itself, they kept Rs 4 lakh with them and boarded the S3 coach of Pandian Express on Saturday night. While they were getting down at Egmore on Sunday morning, Sellappa took their other six bags, but forgot to take the bag that contained cash.Â
After reaching their house in Mogappair, the couple noticed that the bag containing cash was missing. Sellappa rushed to Egmore along with his son. When they went to the Chetpet yard, to their rude shock, they were told that the S3 coach was attached to Chozhan Express, which had left for Thanjavur.
However, railway police acted swiftly and found out that the train was proceeding towards Chidambaram. Cops rushed in coach and were relieved to find the bag untouched. The cash too was intact. Later, the bag was transported back and given to Selladurai.
