Cameras numbering 48 have been set up at 20 different locations, including Aditanar Salai in Pudupet and Egmore, while the live videos will be monitored at the control room set up at Komaleeswaranpet police station.Â
Known for shops selling car and two-wheeler spare parts, Pudupet is also infamous for thefts and other crime activities. Bringing the area under surveillance will keep a check on anti-social elements, said police.
Two days ago, the Commissioner launched another integrated CCTV surveillance system with 84 CCTV cameras, including the ones that detect faces as well as vehicle number plates at NSC Bose Road. Earlier, ahead of the Deepavali season, 150 CCTVs equipped with the technology to identify history-sheeters were installed at important junctions in T Nagar too.Â
