Film fraternity firm on tax relief demand
Even as there were reports that the new movie ticket prices would be effective from Monday, Tirupur Subramaniam, the President of the Tamil Nadu Exhibitors and Distributors’ Association denied it.

Subramaniam told DT Next, “We haven’t hiked the prices effective Monday and the prices will remain the same even for Tuesday’s evening shows.” Meanwhile, Deepak Asher, President of Multiplex Association of India said, “We request the state to consider our request and withdraw the Local Body Entertainment Tax levied in Chennai immediately. We believe such withdrawal will ensure the survival of the film industry and will support a wholesome entertainment option for the people of Chennai.Â
Vishal, president of Tamil Nadu Film Producer Council said, “We will be putting forth three requests to the state. At least we hope that in Tuesday’s meeting there will be a relief in tax that is levied upon us.
