Police said, R Tamizhazhagan, a history-sheeter with as many as 17 cases including two murders, was locked in a bitter quarrel with Pushparaj, a relative of his over certain land dealings. On Friday night, when he along with his wife Neelaveni were asleep, a gang led by Pushparj forced its entry into the house, dragged Tamizhazhagan out. But when he attempted to flee, the gang chased him and hacked him to death.
On information, police retrieved Tamizhazhagan’s body from the spot and sent it for post-mortem to Chengalpattu GH. However, to their shock, when they visited his house for an inquiry, they found Neelavani hanging from the ceiling. Maraimala Nagar police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the four-member gang. A probe is also on to ascertain whether Pushparaj and his gang induced Neelaveni’s suicide.
