Heavy police presence in Chennai confuse public, cops say there is nothing to worry
Heavy police deployment marked the evening commute for office goers across the city as men in khakhi flooded all major areas on Tuesday evening. The unusual police presence forced several office goers to return home earlier than usual while parents rushed to pick up their children from schools and other classes.

Even as strong rumours made rounds regarding the deteriorating health condition of DMK president M Karunanidhi, Rajya Sabha MP and daughter of the veteran politician dismissed it and claimed that he was doing fine.
However, top police sources clarified that it was just a routine exercise of troop redeployment in view of the festival season and that several units were being brought back to their base camps. “There is nothing alarming and it’s just a routine exercise,” a senior police official said.
