Chennai: Security guard found dead, murder suspected

The deceased has been identified as Sugumar (56) of Varadharajapuram.

On Sunday morning, the residents of the three-storeyed building found Sugumar dead on the terrace with blood stains. Police were alerted and the body was sent for post-mortem.

After preliminary inquiry, police said that there was an altercation between him and a housemaid Lakshmi’s husband Basith late on Saturday night. Sugumar allegedly did not allow Basith to visit Lakshmi, who stayed in the apartment complex. Police suspect he might have been murdered in the quarrel that ensued and interrogated the couple.

Police are probing to find out if it was a case of murder. “For now, a case has been registered under Section 174 of the IPC,” said a police official.
