Juvenile among four held for forcing youth to consume drugs

While three of them —Ajithkumar (19), Leo Dinesh (20) and Anthony Samuel (27) — were remanded in judicial custody, the 17-year-old was sent to a juvenile home in the city. They were arrested based on the complaint filed by Samuel (23) of Vyasarpadi. Samuel tried to prevent when the quartet tried to make Rajkumar consume drugs, but in return he was beaten up by them and his two-wheeler was damaged.

A 30-year-old software engineer was relieved of his mobile phone and wallet by an unidentified trio on Outer Ring Road late on Wednesday night. The victim, Venkatesan (30), was returning home in Kundrathur from his office at Siruseri IT Park, when three men followed him on a bike and cornered him near Mudichur. Later, they threatened him with a machete, slashed his hand and snatched his mobile phone and wallet before fleeing the spot. Passers-by noticed Venkatesan lying on the road and rushed him to a private hospital in Tambaram. Based on his complaint, Peerkankaranai police are investigating.
