Man held for selling land with fake documents
Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths arrested a man who allegedly created fake Power of Attorney for a land belonging to a woman and sold it to another person for Rs 4.40 Lakh.
Chennai
The arrest comes six years after Mythili of Valasaravakkam had complained that her land measuring 2,220 sq ft in Pallikaranai has been encroached. While Mythili bought the land way back in 1983, Rajendra Babu created a General Power of Attorney for the property by making another woman pose as Mythili at the Registrar Office and sold the property to Gunasekaran.
Mythili who visited the land in 2011 was shocked to see that it had been occupied by others. She immediately lodged a complaint which was later taken up by CCB as per the Commissioner’s order. Rajendra Babu who had gone into hiding since then was arrested on Friday at Kotturpuram.
An official also noted that Rajendra Babu belongs to a notorious gang led by one Kalyankumar said to be involved in such land grabbing cases using fake documents. Police are on the hunt for Kalyankumar and rest of the gang.
