    College students resume protests against NEET

    College students in the city resumed their protests against NEET with the same energy, three days after colleges reopened on Monday despite the Supreme Court ruling.

    Due to warnings by the police of arrests if people come on to roads for protests, students switched their mode of agitation and staged sit-in protests on college campuses. 
    Students of New College gagged their mouths with a piece of black cloth in a symbolic message that their right to protest is also being infringed upon. Fifty students of Madras University, staged a protest in front of the institution and shouted slogans against state and Central governments and blamed them for the death of medical aspirant Anitha on September 1. 
    About 300 students of Pachaiyappa’s College also staged a sit-in protest on their campus on Poonamallee High Road. In Sholinganallur, students of Mohammed Sathak Engineering College staged a road roko. After warned by the police, they shifted the protest to the campus, where they were locked in. 
    Meanwhile, about 500 students of a private engineering college blocked the railway track in Veppampattu leading to an argument between them and the railway police. 
    Students of private colleges in Kovur and Taramani also joined the protest against NEET on Monday. Meanwhile, the SFI has demanded the release of 124 youngsters who were arrested across the state for protests against NEET.
