Calling on the government to identify and nab the culprits to ensure that they were given exemplary deterrent punishment, he said religious fundamentalists killing activists and journalists who criticised them had become common in Bengaluru.
Similar to Kalburgi being killed on August 30, 2015, Gauri Lankesh was also gunned down by unidentified persons at her residence.
He said her journal Lankesh Patrike had criticised political and religious fundamentalists without any partiality. Journalist unions in Chennai and from other parts of Tamil Nadu have also expressed similar sentiments.
