The woman, Saraswathi, surrendered at the Tiruverkadu police station claiming that she killed her son Senthil as he tortured her after getting drunk. According to her, Senthil worked as a loadman but stopped going to work after becoming a liquor addict. He also often quarrelled with his wife Kamatchi with whom he has three children.

On Monday night, Senthil came home drunk and picked a fight with Kamatchi. Upset over her husband, Kamatchi along with three children left for her mother’s house in Anakaputhur.

Later, Senthil allegedly slapped his mother Saraswathi before going to bed. Fearing an attack by him, Saraswathi threw the stone slab on his head around 5 am on Tuesday, killing him on the spot.

Police retrieved Senthil’s body from the house and sent it to post-mortem to a nearby government hospital. Saraswathi has been remanded in judicial custody.
