3 held for murder of retired railway official
Three youth were arrested for the murder of a retired railway employee over a petty quarrel that turned violent at RS Puram in Purasawalkam on Sunday.

Police said the three were sitting on the bike of one Vignesh parked in front of his house. When this was objected, there was a commotion.
On hearing this, Vignesh’s grandfather Ranjan (68) stepped out and shouted at the youths resulting in them hurling a metal chair at him. He collapsed on the spot. Following this, neighbours rushed Ranjan to the government hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. As the post-mortem report confirmed that Ranjan died due to head injury caused in the attack, Secretariat Colony police, who were investigating the case, registered it as a case of murder.
Police officials arrested the three men - E Samson alias Mahendran (24), J Sarathkumar (25) and V Ilaiyaraja (24). All three have been remanded in judicial custody.
Labourer hacked to death In another incident, a 23-yearold labourer Kamalakannan was hacked to death in Vyasarpadi by a group of men from the same locality over previous enmity.
Police said that on Sunday evening, Kamalakannan got into an argument with a few men, which was resolved after neighbours intervened.
However, the men arrived at Kamalakannan’s house the same night and attacked him with weapons.
Neighbours, who arrived after hearing Kamalakannan’s cries for help, rushed him to Stanley Government College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
MKB Nagar police have registered a case are on the hunt for Krishnakumar and few others involved in the attack.
