CoP opens window to get lost docus, including licence
The city police launched two online services through its portal (http://eservices.tnpolice.gov.in) on Friday which the citizens can use to file complaints regarding their lost documents.

City Police Commissioner A K Viswanathan inaugurated the service. Citizens can now register complaints related to lost passports, vehicle registration certificates, driving licence, school and college certificates and ID cards by logging in Lost Document Report (LDR) portal.
“With these services, we are hoping to help road accident victims and to make it easier for people to report lost documents,” a police official said. People can also download documents pertaining to road accident cases and know the current litigation status on the website, the police said.
“This facility will pave the way for accident victims to receive compensation quicker. Everyone concerned with the case including victims, relatives of deceased, accused and lawyers too can log into the website and get access to the documents,” said Viswanathan.

He added that people using the service would have to register their mobile numbers with the police. They would also be charged Rs 10 for each document that they want to access, Viswanathan said.
“The downloaded documents will automatically be sent to the users’ e-mail id,” said an officer, not wishing to be named.
“We are also in the process of connecting these services with Common Service Centre (CSC), as it will be convenient for those people who do not have internet connection at home,” he added.
The police, however, warned the citizens against uploading false documents and incorrect information on the site and said that, if detected, action would be taken against the culprits.

HOW TO USE THE PORTAL?
- Visit the website eservices.tnpolice. gov.in and log in.
- Register your mobile number.
- You will then receive an OPT or a one-time password for verification Then you will have to upload.
- identity cards issued by government such as voter ID, Aadhaar card and driver’s licence authentication Following this, an LDR will be generated with a unique reference number.
- You will then receive an e-mail with a copy of the LDR document.
