    MTC driver, three others commit suicide in Chennai

    In a spate of suicides across the city, at least four persons, including an MTC staffer, have ended their lives in different incidents.

    The 36-year-old MTC driver committed suicide by hanging at the MTC staff’s room in the T Nagar depot during the wee hours of Wednesday. The deceased, Hasan Ali, is from Pallikonda in Vellore district and was allegedly upset over not getting married, said Pondy Bazaar police after investigation. Other staff members noticed him hanging from the ceiling and alerted the police. The incident created a furore among MTC staff members in the depot.

    bourer was found hanging at his relative’s house in MGR Nagar on Tuesday afternoon. Police said that the deceased Boominathan’s parents are staying in Anakaputhur, while he grew up in his uncle Murugan’s house in MGR Nagar. On Tuesday afternoon, he reportedly committed suicide when others were out for work. Police suspect that his personal issues could have pushed him to take the extreme step. Further investigation is on. 

    A 42-year-old man hanged himself after a family quarrel in Thoraipakkam on Tuesday night. The man was identified as Raju and his wife Saraswathi found him hanging in the house at VOC Street in Kallukuttai around 11.30 pm and alerted the police. The man was allegedly addicted to liquor and used to fight with his wife often. Later, police retrieved his body and registered a case.

     Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man, who was working at a mansion in Mylapore, committed suicide by hanging in his room on Monday night.

     The deceased Sasikumar’s co-workers in the Saradha Mansion noticed his body on Tuesday morning and alerted the police. Police personnel from Mylapore station retrieved his body and registered a case.  All four bodies were sent to Royapettah Government Hospital for post mortem.
