    Two youth killed in Kannagi Nagar

    In two separate incidents, an Assamese youth and another youngster were murdered in Kannagi Nagar on Monday.

    In the first case, the deceased Assamese has been identified as Sandip Nath (25), who was working as a security guard at a private firm in Karapakkam. He was staying at a rented house in Kannagi Nagar.

    Sandip was killed on Monday morning when he was on his way to work on his cycle. A four-member gang that came in an autorickshaw stopped him near the Karapakkam bridge and hacked Sandip with a knife, killing him on the spot. The gang escaped from the scene taking the deceased’s mobile phone. The investigation is on to ascertain the motive behind the murder.

    In another incident, a 19-year-old was murdered by his friends. The deceased, Dinesh, was a resident of Housing Board colony in Ezhil Nagar in Kannagi Nagar. On Monday, he was talking to his friends outside his house and an argument erupted among them. In a fit of rage, a few of them hacked him with knives on his neck. Dinesh died on the spot.

    The bodies of both the deceased were sent to Royapettah Government Hospital for post-mortem. A police official said that the nerves in Dinesh’s neck were damaged, which resulted in his death. Two men, Manikandan (23) and Prabakaran (23), have been arrested in connection with Dinesh’s murder and investigation is on to secure the rest of the accused.
