Chennai
According to Coast Guard sources, V.K.Vijay, Financial Advisor to Indian Coast Guard, along with N.V.Rama Rao, Station Commandant at Mandapam Coast Guard Station at Ramanathapuram district, carried out inspection about border security by taking the hovercraft.Â
The team had gone to International Maritime Border Line(IMBL) in the hovercraft and inspected the security scenario at the border of Indian coasts. The sources also pointed out to the recent pack signed between Sri Lankan government and Chinese government regarding the operation and development of Hambanthota Port by China and claimed that the Port in located on the southern side of the island and is located close to Indian border at the southern side.Â
So a constant vigil at the border is required and henceforth the coast guard officials carried out inspection about the security measures carried out across the IMBL. For the reason of security Indian government had been opposing the pact signed between China and Sri Lanka but three days back Sri Lanka had signed the pact making India to tighten the security measure across the coastal areas said the sources.Â
However after the inspection the Coast Guard officials had informed the media that it was part of regular security inspection at the coastal areas and had nothing to do with Chinese presence in Sri Lanka.
