Tripura man killed by roommate in Sholinganallur
A 34-year-old security guard from Tripura was hacked to death by his roommate over a money dispute here on Sunday night.
Chennai
The victim, Talwar Hussain, from Tripura, was working as a security guard in a building in Karapakkam. He stayed with three others – Siddique Miah (34), Sujan Ahmed (35) and Abu Tahir (40)- who also hail from the same state. Siddique works as a welder and the other two are daily wage labourers.
After the initial investigation, police officials said that Talwar failed to pay the rent to the house owner for the past two months, despite collecting it from his three roommates.
Siddique came to know that Talwar wasted all the money on liquor, only after the house owner confronted him on Sunday.
Police said that all the four got drunk on Sunday night after which Siddique asked Talwar about not paying the house rent. An argument ensued and in a fit of rage, Siddique hit Talwar with an iron rod and the latter died on the spot. After the incident, Siddique went into hiding. Based on the information given by other two roommates, the Semmancheri police registered a case and arrested Talwar.
Meanwhile, Talwar’s body was sent to Royapettah Government Hospital for post mortem.
Further investigation is on.
