Andhra Pradesh officials in city to learn brand Amma formula

Officials from 10 municipalities in Andhra Pradesh - Tirupati, Kadappa, Kakinada, Eluru, Ongole, Chittoor, Guntur, Anantapur, Nellore, Srikakulam, Rajahmundry, Vizianagaram and Machilipatnam – met the Greater Chennai Corporation officials to consult on the intricacies behind the Amma Unavagam and Amma Kudineer schemes, with an interest to introduce such services in their cities.

The civic body runs 400 Amma Unavagam canteens in 200 wards and hotels in seven government hospitals.

The discussions included logistics such as raw material required, hiring personnel, sanitation factors of running such establishments and on sales aspects, including fast-selling items.

The team also visited Amma Unavagam outlets in the following locations: Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Anna Nagar, Harrington Road and conducted a thorough inspection.

The officials inspected the store room, kitchen and distribution area and observed the token system.

The team also spoke to people eating there and questioned them on the taste, value and sanitation aspect of the food.

The Corporation operates 50 Amma Kudineer outlets in the city. The team visited the outlet in Ambattur to study the system in place and observed the water distribution to the public, through smart cards, promoting cashless transactions.

These schemes have attracted the interest of municipalities across the country.

Earlier, officials and ministers from several other place like Rajasthan, New Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and international visitors from Egypt have visited these facilities, to study their implementation.
