Choice-based credit system at AU from this year
Anna University’s (AU) new curriculum will now introduce choice-based credit system (CBCS). This system provides ‘cafeteria’ type approach in which the students can take courses of their choice, learn at their pace and adopt an interdisciplinary approach to learning within a specific template. The courses will be introduced from academic year 2017-18.

Formulation of the new regulations started in May 2016. Discussed at the 22nd Academic Council Meeting of Anna University, the main agenda included finalising the complete curriculum including electives for 41 UG and 57 PG programmes offered in the affiliated colleges. Humanities and Social Sciences, Basic Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Professional Core, Professional Electives and Employability Enhancement etc., are courses that can be chosen from other branches.
