14 detained under Goondas Act
As part of the regular exercise to keep repeated offenders in check, Chennai city police have detained four men under the Goondas Act. The accused have been identified as Kirubanandhan (25) of Tiruchy district, Pandian (30) of Ennore, Murugan (24) of Kannagi Nagar, Gnanasekaran (36) of Ayanavaram.

While Kirubanandhan is an accused in two attempt-to-murder cases in Tiruchy district and also chain snatching incidents in the city, Pandian has already been detained under Goondas Act, said police sources.Â
Gnanasekaran has a murder case pending against him, while Murugan is accused in various chain snatching cases across the city.Â
Meanwhile, Kasimedu police have arrested two repeated offenders for causing nuisance in public places. Police said that the accused Rishikannan (25) and Attu Ramesh (40) of Indira Nagar Slum Clearance Board area were invovled in a drunken brawl recently and were arrested.Â
Students among 14 held for causing nuisance at MMCÂ
Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel on Saturday arrested 14 youth, including students from Pachaiyappa’s College for causing nuisance to other passengers at an electric multiple unit (EMU) train stationed at Moore Market Complex railway station. All of them were produced before the Magistrate and fined.
